Warm up at one of these natural hot springs not far from Truckee, Reno and Lake Tahoe. After a day on the slopes or after a long hike in the pristine forests in the high Sierras, a long soak at one of the natural hot springs could be exactly what you need!

Sierra Hot Springs

Sierra Hot Springs is close to Truckee located to the North of Lake Tahoe. Located in Sierraville, CA this developed hot spring welcomes the public to soak in it’s pools and take in the beautiful views. In addition to Hot Springs, Sierra Hot Springs offers lodging and camping. This facility is clothing optional and has a sun deck, changing area, shower room and several pools including a temple dome.

Grover Hot Springs

Grover Hot Springs is located in a beautiful alpine valley on the Eastern side of the Sierra Mountains close to the town of Markleeville. The facility consists of a hot pool and a warm swimming pool. There is also a changing area and showers available to visitors. Bathing suits are required at Grover Hot Springs. This family friendly hot spring requires a small fee and limits visitors so get there early or be prepared to wait for your turn to soak. In the warmer months, Grover Hot Springs is surrounded by glorious hiking trails and stunning scenery. Stop by Sorensens Resort on your way! (Please note that due to extensive damage caused by the Caldor fire, Grover Hot Springs is now closed until further notice)

Brockway Hot Springs Lake Tahoe

Brockway Hot Springs is unique in that the spring itself trickles down into Lake Tahoe from private property, so access by land isn’t possible unless you have a right to be on this property. However determined visitors can access the hot spring from the lake. The water discharges into Lake Tahoe below the mean high water mark for the lake, which is where the private property line ends. The nearest point of access for those who want to paddle to the spring is nearby Kings Beach. If you visit, be respectful and don’t trespass, pack your trash and enjoy the view!

Travertine Hot Springs

Travertine Hot Springs is located outside of the town of Bridgeport, CA. Be aware this hot spring is extremely popular and may be crowded at any time. However, visiting in the morning or on a weekday will reduce the chances of running into a crowd. Travertine is a natural, undeveloped hot spring with varying water temperature. Enjoy your soak and the views of the Sierra.

David Walley’s Resort

David Walley’s is a developed hot spring located in the charming town of Genoa. The facility offers accommodations, a full restaurant and a bar. This hot spring is much more developed than other locations but just as charming and relaxing, if not more so as your comfortable room will be steps away if you stay at the resort! These hot springs have been enjoyed for generations and are well worth your visit.

Carson Hot Springs

Carson Hot Springs is located in the charming town of Carson City located in the Sierra Mountains. Carson Hot Springs is another great option if you prefer a developed hot spring experience. Bathing suits are required, this hot spring is a wonderful place to bring the family. The nourishing waters sooth tired muscles and create a state of pure relaxation. An onsite restaurant and other amenities make this facility a great place to visit.

Wild Willy’s

Located just over 10 miles from Mammoth, Wild Willy’s Hot Springs is an easy drive and short walk for any weary soul looking for a great soak. These hot springs are undeveloped and very popular, so be ready to meet more people than you may have expected. Clothing optional as you can expect at most natural and undeveloped hot spring. A boardwalk leads to the hot spring from the parking area.

Buckeye Hot Springs

There are 3 soaking areas along the Buckeye Creek. Just about 3 hours South of Reno, Buckeye Hot Springs is another great soak in the town of Bridgeport, CA. Buckeye is less popular than it’s neighbor Travertine Hot Springs but can be crowded nonetheless. As with any natural hot springs, be ready for bathers in the buff.

Steamboat Hot Springs

If you are looking for a more developed hot spring experience and maybe a little bit of pampering, Steamboat Hot Springs may be for you. Steamboat offers several private rooms where you can control the temperature of the water filling your tub. They also offer massage services as well as a full menu of other wellness modalities.
